Domestic Violence
Steering Committee
Minnesota's Domestic Violence Steering Committee (DVSC) is a collaborative effort between Violence Free Minnesota, MN Department of Corrections, MN Association of Community Corrections Act Counties, MN Association of County Probation Officers, and community-based victim advocacy. Established in 2023, the DVSC seeks to identify best practices in the supervision of intimate partner violence offenders, increase uniformity and consistency in IPV cases across Minnesota’s three supervision delivery systems, and promote victim safety and autonomy through victim centered practices. We believe that ongoing engagement with emerging research and a multidisciplinary approach that includes supervising agents, treatment/programming providers, and victim advocates will result in improved outcomes for those who commit intimate partner violence and their victims.

From 2023 to 2025, the DVSC coordinated work groups tasked with developing current recommendations and guidance for the assessment, treatment, and supervision of adults who use violence against an intimate partner. The DVSC also coordinated and facilitated the training of 700+ supervision agents and DOC facility case managers on the Intimate Partner Violence Reunification: a victim-centered approach to corrections curriculum.
